Transaction Compliance Specialist

Sungage Financial originates thousands of loans each year through hundreds of different solar installation partners. Sungage is seeking a Transaction Compliance Specialist in our Boston office to ensure that all projects comply with stated program rules and that homeowners are treated fairly throughout the process. To accomplish this goal, the Transaction Compliance Specialist will engage in activities ranging from reviewing home improvement contracts, to managing escalations that pose a risk to the homeowner to defining new processes to monitor our solar installers. The ideal candidate brings a meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering sense of integrity and is driven by a passion for ensuring that consumers are treated fairly.

Day to day, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring project-level compliance
    • Review each contract that is submitted for financing to ensure that it complies with
    • Sungage’s contract requirements; flag non-compliant contracts for follow-up
    • Validate that each applicant owns the property on which the solar system is being installed and that permission to operate has been provided by the utility
  • Managing escalations for project-level fraud/compliance issues
    • Become the expert on installers who frequently violate program rules to support improvement or termination
    • Assist in the creation of a risk rating scheme for installers across the network and the organization of installer performance data into a single source
    • If homeowner does not demonstrate that they understand the deal, even after explanation from Customer Experience rep, or if there is concern that the salesperson is intentionally misleading the homeowner, speak with homeowner to determine whether or not project should move forward
    • If homeowner raises concerns about installer, coordinate response to installer to ensure they address homeowner concerns
  • Ensuring Sungage contract standards are up-to- date, properly disseminated and adhered to
    • Clearly define contract requirements for each new state added, and periodically update requirements for existing states
    • Ensure these requirements are clearly documented for internal and external consumption
    • Review contracts for all new installers to determine what changes, if any, are required for their contract to comply
  • Conducting post-installation quality assurance
    • Calculate estimated production based on as-builts from installer and from Sungage inspections
    • Compare proposed and actual production and savings
  • Aiding in the creation and implementation of new risk rating schemes and procedures.

  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate across functions
  • Have flexible, problem-solving skills with a dedication to always getting it right
  • 2+ years working in fraud detection a plus
  • Experience with Cloud-based software a plus (Salesforce, Google Docs, etc.)
